Changes to Polish VAT Rates 2022

January 25, 2022 in VAT rates

As part of Poland’s “Anti-inflation Shield 2.0”, they have requested EU Council permission for changes to Polish VAT rates. To help mitigate the impact of rising inflation, they have temporarily lowered, or in some cases zero-rated, the VAT rates on a number of product categories.

This follows their initial inflation-reducing measures introduced at the end of 2021. These measures are thought to have prevented a 1.5% increase in inflation, but now they are taking further action.

Take a look at the changes to Polish VAT rates below.

What are the new Polish VAT rates?

The following VAT rates will apply in Poland from 1 February 2022 to 31 July 2022:

  • 0% on foodstuffs (currently rated at 5%)
  • 5% on heat energy
  • 8% on fuel
  • 5% on electricity
  • 0% on fertilizers
  • 0% on gas
