International VAT Obligations

With all the excitement of the extra orders and then the stress of the extra  packing and fulfilment, please don’t forget that if you are selling online to European customers, you are governed by the EU VAT distance selling rules – if you exceed €35,000 (or equivalent) in most EU countries, except France, Germany, The Netherlands, Luxembourg and UK where it’s €100,000 (or equivalent) – you will need to become VAT registered in those countries.  Keep an eye on your sales and don’t forget to include your marketplace commission and postage when calculating whether you are near the VAT registration threshold.  If you are getting close – get in touch with us on 0207 760 7667 – and we’ll help you stay the right side of the European VAT laws.

Happy Selling and a Happy and Prosperous Christmas!
