Spain to introduce B2B e-invoicing obligations

As part of its “Crea y Crece” law, the Spanish Government is making e-invoicing mandatory for B2B supplies taxable in Spain. The obligation is expected to start applying from 2024 for large businesses with an annual turnover exceeding 8 million euros and will gradually expand to smaller companies registered for VAT in Spain. Traders required to comply with the B2B e-invoicing requirement will need to be able to issue and receive electronic invoices when the law takes effect.

The exact implementation calendar is yet to be confirmed and the Spanish authority is expected to publish further details and technical requirements to help professionals prepare for this change.
