UAE VAT FAQs

If you’re registered for VAT in the UAE, you can reclaim certain business expenses on your VAT return. When the amount you have to reclaim is greater than the VAT you owe, you can carry the difference forward as credit or request a cash refund. Non-registered, non-UAE businesses may be able to get a VAT refund through the FTA’s non-resident refund scheme.
To register for VAT in the UAE you’ll need to submit a registration application to the Federal Tax Authority. The application will include details about your business, what you expect to be doing in the UAE and supporting documents. You might also need to appoint a fiscal representative based in the UAE.
