Meet Corin, a key member of our Business Support Team. Corin joined SimplyVAT in November 2021, having been drawn to join us by our energy and positivity.

Corin’s Career at SimplyVAT 

Corin joined SimplyVAT with no prior tax experience, but the company’s training and support have helped them grow significantly. He’s gained skills in Excel and Microsoft tools and taken on exciting projects, including: 

• Collaborating with the Consultancy Team to improve knowledge of Canadian tax processes.
• Leading a cross-department project to streamline the process for handling mail correspondence from tax authorities.
• Creating and presenting the “A Day in the Life” initiative, which improved cross-team understanding and is now used to support onboarding new team members.
• Helping introduce Tribexa through trialling the platform, then training the rest of the Business Support team to help them get online. 

“My goal in creating this was to help people on each team have a better understanding of what happens in other teams, before or after they have the chance of working with the client in question, and to show how each of our functions works together.” 

What a Client Services Administrator does at SimplyVAT 

No two days are quite the same, but Corin’s role as Client Services Administrator always revolves around supporting SimplyVAT in achieving its goals. It’s a job that needs adaptability and problem-solving. Corin pitches in to: 

• Ensure that client VAT returns are submitted on time
• Promptly getting critical information to the people who need it
• Conduct fact-finding missions with international tax authorities

“I enjoy the fact that no two days are quite the same; the ability to be somewhat independent in many of my tasks. Particularly when I’m tasked with investigations and research, and I love to over-deliver on the results for these tasks.”

“There isn’t that cold, rigid formality one can experience in other companies. People are genuine and approachable.”
